[ARCHIVED] Napa Tap Water Update

Lake Hennessey Aerial View

The City of Napa constantly works to optimize our source water supplies and are aware of a difference in taste and/or odor that can be potentially experienced this time of year with our local Lake Hennessey source water. At this time, we must continue using water from all of our available sources to meet system demands, which includes Lake Hennessey. Regardless of the change in taste and/or odor, your tap water is safe to drink and currently meets or exceeds all state and federal standards. Once system demands are reduced, your drinking water source will be solely supplied from the Edward I. Barwick Jamieson Canyon Water Treatment Plant and the taste and odor changes will subside. In the meantime, to alleviate any temporary adverse taste and/or odor, you can chill your tap water, add citrus (lemons, limes, oranges, etc.) or cucumbers or aerate your water by swirling it in a large pitcher.
