The City of Napa has appointed Dr. Peter Pirnejad to the newly created post of Assistant City Manager - Development Services. This position was formed in response to the unprecedented level of development activity in Napa and corresponding increased demand on the Community Development and Public Works departments. Reporting to the city manager, Dr. Pirnejad will serve as a critical link between both departments, the city manager’s office and external stakeholders.
Dr. Peter Pirnejad will also be responsible for overseeing the city’s economic development activities. Assisting the city manager with department oversight, he exercises considerable independent judgment related to the planning and implementation of major city projects, such as the citywide parking program, the Civic Center project, and Napa Pipe. “Peter will serve at an executive level to ensure that processes and systems support the seamless completion of priority initiatives that are important to community vitality and advancement of City Council goals,” says City Manager Mike Parness.
As a committed and collaborative public administrator with 20 years of experience in land use, Dr. Pirnejad specializes in improving operations by focusing on collaboration, streamlining systems, and leveraging innovative technologies. He is also skilled at the art of civic-engagement and community-building. His award-winning work includes introducing innovative new technologies, building high performing teams, streamlining systems, and creating leading edge sustainability programs. He has a BS from UC Santa Barbara, and a Masters, as well as a Doctorate, from University of Southern California. He is married with three children.
