[ARCHIVED] Water-Wise Landscaping Workshops Online This Fall

The-Benefits-of-a-Smart-Irrigation-System-1024x678

As part of Napa Library’s H2O Superhero Program, City of Napa Water and the Napa County Resource Conservation District (RCD) are teaming up for two more Water-Wise Workshops this fall. After a successful in-person rainwater harvesting class back in February, these next two topics will go virtual, covering efficient irrigation techniques and a surprising alternative source for landscape water. Both programs will be broadcast live on Zoom and Facebook, with time allotted for answering chat questions curated by the moderator.

Smart Irrigation and Drip Systems

Wednesday, September 30, 6:30-8:30 pm

After hearing tips on how to spruce up your sprinklers, reduce seasonal overwatering, and upgrade to a weather-based “smart” controller, watch Harmony Farm Supply’s Patty Hamilton solve the mysteries of drip irrigation, the most efficient water delivery system for most plants. Real-life drip applications will be reviewed, showing off watering strategies for trees, vegetables, and shrubs. Drip system components will be displayed and assembled.

Greywater Systems

Wednesday, October 21, 6:30-8:30 pm

Learn how used water from your indoor appliances and fixtures can be directed to the plants in your yard. The City’s Water Conservation Specialist, Josh Stokes, will describe the sources of “greywater” and demonstrate the key steps in setting up a laundry-to-landscape greywater system. Your clothes washer can become an alternative source of irrigation water!
