[ARCHIVED] Napa City Clerk Announced 17 New Board and Commission Openings

The Napa City Clerk has announced 17 new Board and Commission openings. We invite Napa residents with expertise to share that are interested in making a difference in their community to apply for one of the many positions available.

Bicycle and Trails Advisory Commission: 2 Openings

  • About the Commission: Advisory to City Council and to the City’s Public Works Department on matters regarding bicycle transportation and bicycle and trail issues.

  • The Ideal Candidate: Napa resident who demonstrates dedication as a bicyclist and/or training in the field of transportation, recreational trail planning, or engineering.

Building and Fire Code Board of Appeals: 3 Openings

  • About the Board of Appeals: The local appeals board for the City of Napa regarding issues related to building and fire codes.

  • The Ideal Candidate: Napa resident who demonstrates knowledge, experience, and training in matters related to building construction and fire protection. Two seats will serve concurrently on the Disability Access Board of Appeals.

Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Advisory Committee: 1 Opening

  • About the Committee: Advisory to City Council on matters regarding the assessment, planning, development, implementation and amendment of programs under the Community Development Block Grant program, a grant program to assist low and moderate income residents administered by the Federal Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).

  • The Ideal Candidate: Napa resident who is directly affected by the CDBG program, including but not limited to representatives from the business community, disabled persons, youth, seniors, minority groups, and low and moderate-income persons.

Disability Access Board of Appeals: 3 Openings

  • About the Board of Appeals: Renders decisions when a person aggrieved by a determination made by the Chief Building Official or Fire Code Official in administering or enforcing access to “public accommodations or facilities” appeals the determination.

  • The Ideal Candidate: Napa resident interested in ensuring access to public accommodations and facilities. Two seats will serve concurrently on the Building and Fire Code Board of Appeals; one seat will serve as a representative of the disability community.

Napa County Mosquito Abatement District Board: 1 Opening

  • About the District Board: Governing Body of the Mosquito Abatement District which provides mosquito/vector control services for the County of Napa. The Board consists of six members: one of whom represents the City of Napa.

  • The Ideal Candidate: Napa resident interested in representing the city of Napa in matters related to mosquito and vector control.

Parks, Recreation and Trees Advisory Commission: 3 Openings

  • About the Commission: Advisory to City Council and the Parks and Recreation Services Director on matters related to parks and public recreation, cultural activities of public interest, public and private landscape development, and tree preservation. Decision-making body for the planting and removal of city trees and activities affecting significant trees. 

  • The Ideal Candidate: Napa resident interested in the City’s parks, recreation, and trees. Demonstrated experience in urban planning, park planning, park operations, park maintenance, recreation programming, horticulture, or arboriculture is preferred but not required for all commission members.

Senior Advisory Commission: 4 Openings

  • About the Commission: Establishes goals for Napa senior programs and makes recommendations to the City Council and the Parks and Recreation Services Director on matters regarding services, facility use, and recreational activities at the Napa Senior Center.

  • The Ideal Candidate: Senior Napa resident representative of the Napa senior community at-large (3 appointments); Representative from a Napa senior services agency (1 appointment).
