The Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) has awarded the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting to the City of Napa for its annual comprehensive financial report for the fiscal year ended June 30, 2020. The report has been judged by an impartial panel to meet the high standards of the program, which includes demonstrating a constructive "spirit of full disclosure" to clearly communicate its financial story and motivate potential users and user groups to read the report.
“Our staff continuously display the City of Napa’s commitment to fiscal transparency and accurate reporting, so it is very rewarding to see our City of Napa staff granted this honor by the GFOA yet again,” says City Manager Steve Potter. “We are grateful to have staff who go above and beyond in their attention to detail and embody the City’s dedication to ethics and transparency.”
In 2017, the City launched OpenGov, the leading platform for government performance management. The platform has enabled the City of Napa’s fiscal transparency efforts by using data to drive decision making.
The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management. Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) advances excellence in government finance by providing best practices, professional development, resources, and practical research for more than 21,000 members and the communities they serve.
The City of Napa has been granted the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for the past seven years.
