City of Napa Developing Comprehensive Local Roadway Safety Plan

LRSP

The City of Napa is developing a comprehensive Local Roadway Safety Plan (LRSP). The LRSP aims to help the City to enhance traffic safety for all modes of transportation (driving, walking, bicycling, and riding transit) and for all ages and abilities.

The overarching goal is to develop a successful LRSP by utilizing the historic traffic collision database to create a decision-making process to address traffic safety in Napa. This document is intended to complement existing local planning documents as well as the State’s Strategic Highway Safety Plan (SHSP). As such, it relies on a partnership with stakeholders and public outreach using the four "E's” of traffic safety: Engineering, Enforcement, Education, and Emergency Services.

Public input is vital to creating a Local Roadway Safety Plan that addresses roadway safety issues in Napa. By collecting feedback from the community, and to allow drivers, pedestrians, cyclists and public transportation users to report their concerns, the City can work towards more accurately identifying and prioritizing these issues.

To increase visibility of the project, and collect important feedback from the community, the City has launched a new Local Roadway Safety Plan webpage. Here, the community can learn more about the Local Roadway Safety Plan, report a concern, view an interactive map of collision history throughout Napa, and stay on top of project updates.
