Board Commission and Committee Openings

Want to make a difference in your community? Do you have expertise you could share? The City Clerk is accepting applications from City of Napa Residents for a total of THREE (3) openings: two to serve on the Cultural Heritage Commission; and one to serve on the Napa County Mosquito Abatement District Board. 

The Cultural Heritage Commission (CHC) is advisory to City Council on matters related to preservation of historic resources, particularly related to the Historic Preservation Element of the City’s General Plan.  This five-member Commission is the decision-making body for Certificate of Appropriateness (See NMC Chapters 2.70.060 and 15.52.)  Each member must be a full-time resident and registered voter of the City of Napa with the exception of two designated “preservation professionals” who may be either City or County residents.  Qualifications include a demonstrated knowledge or interest in historic preservation or a preservation related field the historic the historic resources of the city, architecture, or urban design. Two designated “preservation professionals” must have professional experience in the field of architecture, landscape architecture, history, architectural history, rehabilitation and construction, urban planning, or other historic preservation related disciplines.  One appointment shall fill the requirement of “preservation professional”. The CHC meets the second Thursday of each month at 5:30 p.m. in the City Hall Council Chambers, 955 School Street, Napa.

The Napa County Mosquito Abatement District Board is the Governing Body of the Mosquito Abatement District which provides mosquito/vector control services for the County of Napa. The Board consists of six members: one of whom represents the City of Napa. The City Council of the City of Napa appoints one member to the Board of Trustees to serve as the City’s representative.   All other members represent the other governmental jurisdictions in the County of Napa in addition to one member representing the County at-large. The City of Napa representative to the Napa County Mosquito Abatement District Board must be a resident of the City of Napa. Meetings are held the second Wednesday of each month at 7:00 p.m.
