Listening Sessions – thank you to all who took time to share your experiences with me. Hearing directly from you about the challenges you’ve faced and the support you need to continue living and working in our community has really helped me get my head around what we are working towards accomplishing with Napa Makes.
Rebrand – working with the amazing Jordan Felling, Emma K. Morris, and Liz Murray, we rebranded the initiative from Make it in Napa to Napa Makes, complete with a new logo mark. The rebrand is important because it helps raise the visibility not only of the initiative itself, but also the makers and artists the initiative is in support of.
Website & Newsletter – these tools give us places to store and share information with you.

Events – the Makers District Walking Tour in October was an incredible success in terms of sharing makers’ stories with our elected officials and community stakeholders. Additionally, about thirty of you came out to the Napa Yard last week to network and connect.
Coming in 2023: a public event showcasing our artist community, and Napa Makes internal events with program updates and structured networking.
Facebook Community Forum – we created and manage a place for you to connect with each other directly to share resources, advertise shows, ask for support, and cheer each other on! Search “Napa Makes” on Facebook to join.

New Artist Space – we are working with two community members to help them through the process of converting existing space into artist studios, supporting them with permitting and eventual grant applications, if necessary.
Steering Committee – special thank you to Derek Bromley, Paul Slack, Jacques Lesec, John Hannaford, Kristina Young, and Ross Portugeis for coming together to collaborate with me on this initiative. Interested in being part of a steering committee? Let me know!
For a broad refresh on the initiative and its goals, review the Napa Creative Space and Local Manufacturing Action Plan.
Happy Holiday season to all of you! I’ll be back in touch early next year.
Cheers,
Jennifer
