The City of Napa is pleased to announce that, after a competitive nationwide search, Raj Prasad has been appointed to the position of Finance Director. Prasad proved to be a top candidate during the recruitment for this role, and his current position as Deputy Finance Director has positioned him well for this next step. He will officially assume the Director role on May 1st.
During his tenure as Deputy Director of Finance for the City of Napa, Prasad has successfully directed the City’s annual financial audit, implemented GASB 87 (the goal of which is to more accurately portray lease obligations in governmental financial statements), managed the post-ERP implementation reporting and troubleshooting, and conducted citywide training on Finance processes. He has worked to develop relationships both within the Department and with staff throughout the organization.
Before joining the City of Napa in 2022, Prasad developed over 18 years of local government and private sector financial management experience, having proven his leadership skills by identifying local government best practices, financial management road maps, budget alignments and a broad range of relationship-building initiatives. Prasad served as the Accounting Manager for the City of Citrus Heights until 2022, having originally been hired as their Senior Accountant and Auditor in 2019. Prior to that, he was a Senior Accountant for the City of West Sacramento from 2015-2019 and several private sector accounting and controller positions.
Prasad received his Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Phoenix in Sacramento and Master of Accountancy from William Jessup University in Rocklin.
With Prasad moving into the Director role in the coming weeks, the City of Napa will look to fill the Deputy Director role as soon as possible.
