[ARCHIVED] Banner Program

Banner Program

The City of Napa's street banner program is a noteworthy initiative that fosters a strong sense of belonging, promotes local identity and transforms the downtown area into a recognizable and inviting destination. The vibrant banners displayed throughout the city not only add visual appeal but also play a vital role in the concept of "placemaking." Managed by the Economic Development team, this program serves as a catalyst for enhancing community spirit and showcasing Napa's unique character.

The Economic Development Team has been working hard to improve the street banner program. It is made possible through a collaborative effort between the City of Napa, external entities and the community at large. The Tourism Improvement District (TID) provides funding for various banners, including special ones for events such as Napa Pride Month. Outside organizations can also request to hang banners, which go through a rigorous review and approval process by the City. If approved, the requesting entity assumes responsibility for production and installation costs, ensuring the program remains sustainable. For instance, you may have noticed BottleRock's banners displayed throughout May—a prime example of the outside community playing a role in Napa's banner program!

With support from the Tourism Improvement District, the City of Napa aims to expand its street banner program by introducing more "evergreen" banners around town in the near future. These banners, designed to be placed on the majority of posts, will further strengthen the city's identity and contribute to its ongoing placemaking efforts. Look out for these new signs coming in the next few months!

To maintain consistency and uphold the city's standards, all street banner messages must adhere to the City of Napa's Street Banner Policy and Program Guidelines. These guidelines ensure that the content aligns with the community's values, respects the local environment and promotes inclusivity. By following these guidelines, the program maintains a cohesive and harmonious streetscape that reinforces Napa's unique character.

With the collaborative efforts of the City, external entities and the community, this program ensures that Napa's streets are not just pathways, but vibrant reflections of our rich character and spirit. Learn more at https://www.cityofnapa.org/1152/Street-Banner-Program.
