GPAC Quick Hits Newsletter

This newsletter is intended to provide the General Plan Advisory Committee (GPAC) periodic updates on the General Plan Update process, upcoming meetings, and activities. It is also a way for GPAC Members and Planning Staff to share articles and ideas on topics of interest and trends related to community planning.

See below for special announcements on the City's COVID-19 protocols and special GPAC Activities during the shelter-in-place orders.

Virtual GPAC Meeting

Save the Date!


Monday, June 15 will be our first Virtual GPAC Meeting via Zoom! The primary focus of the meeting will be to get an update on the survey and brainstorm ideas and formats for a Virtual Land Use workshop - Planning Staff is working with the Consultant Team, and GPAC Chair/Vice Chair to set the agenda.

In the coming days, Planning Staff will be contacting GPAC Members to set up small group meetings via Zoom to assist with Members' comfort level with the Zoom Webinar format. 


A short "trial run" GPAC Meeting will be scheduled for the week of June 8. Final agenda and supporting documents will be emailed on Wednesday, June 10.

Survey Extended!


The Land Use Survey has been extended! As part of the outreach for the upcoming GPAC Meeting, the City announced the extension of the Land Use Survey. Please continue to share with your networks!

Slow Streets Program

GPAC in the news!

GPAC Member Patrick Band was in the news for his participation in the Napa Bicycle Coalition's request for a Slow Streets Program in Napa! 

The Napa County Bicycle Coalition issued a formal request to City Council on May 15 that it adopt a Slow Streets program that would close certain streets to through traffic to provide safe, accessible routes for residents to travel and recreate while maintain the six-foot distance recommended by social distancing guidelines.

Expanded Stage 2!

On May 19, 2020, Napa County was approved by the California Department of Public Health to move into Expanded Stage 2. 

Businesses, working with their city/town chambers of commerce, are being asked to organize themselves by sector and develop Best Management Practices in preparation of future State guidance. More information:

City Offices Closed - Staff Still At Work

All public counters in Napa City offices are closed to the public, and open only on a by-appointment basis. By modifying services, using social distancing and offering assistance and service over the phone, we can do our part to minimize COVID-19 exposure to City staff and the public. You can continue to communicate with Planning Staff by calling 707-257-9530 to schedule a phone appointment.
