Art Walk People's Choice Winner - Celestial

Art Walk People's Choice Winner

Sense of Place 2019-2021

The peoples choice winner Celestial, was created by Finnish-American sculptor Eino. The sculpture, made from Brazilian Blue quartzite and stainless steel, is located at the corner of First and Franklin. The artist described the piece: “Members of the human race are akin to stars in the sky; each an individual, but all residing in the same “space” that we call the Universe. ‘Celestial’ invites the viewer to step back and see the big picture and to realize that we are all part of a greater whole. A focal point of the sculpture is a “starburst” representing the genesis of humanity; it is positioned near the center of the piece to represent a central point from which everything emanates.”

An audio tour of the permanent art downtown collection is available through the OtoCast app. This enables you to hear from the artists and develop a deeper understanding of their artwork. Download the free app from your preferred provider or listen to the recordings HERE.
