And welcome back to Napa’s monthly Economic Development newsletter!
This month, I’m happy to write to you all as Napa's newest Economic Development Manager. After working with businesses from both private and public sectors, I’ve served Napa for the last two years and I am eager to continue to apply my experience and knowledge to our incredible business community.
The entire Economic Development Division and I are focused on making 2022 a great year for our local entrepreneurs by supporting small businesses, increasing our City’s economic resiliency and capacity, improving our current economic environment and ensuring we’re building on something that will last.
One of the more exciting developments we’re eager to share with this community is that we’re actively working with local artists and makers to support creative pursuits with our new Make It In Napa program. After conducting interviews, sorting through survey responses and working with stakeholders in the community, we have presented dozens of recommended actions to the City Council for consideration. We are confident these recommendations will help to cultivate an encouraging environment for creatives to live, work and create in Napa. You can read more about Make It In Napa further down in this newsletter.
And, of course, we will continue to use this newsletter to share helpful resources with all of you that we hope will assist your business and goals. Finally, be sure to read our highlight of Action Avenue x Vallejo: an exciting business corridor right here in Napa.

Social Entrepreneurs for Economic Development (SEED) Grant Funding
Immigrants Rising is offering Social Entrepreneurs for Economic Development (SEED) grant funding to select California residents who are starting or growing a business/nonprofit in California that addresses a social problem or community need!
Applicants must either have limited English proficiency or are a non-U.S. citizen (including green card holders, DACA recipients, individuals with Temporary Protected Status (TPS), and those not lawfully present in the U.S.). If you meet one of these eligibility requirements, and your business or nonprofit is making an impact in our community, consider applying now!
Immigrants Rising is providing two different types of one-time, non-renewable grants, ranging from $5,000 - $10,000, depending on your business revenue. Applications are open for this cycle of SEED grant funding until March 1, 2022.
For individuals starting or growing a business/nonprofit with annual gross business revenue/gross receipts less than $100,000 in the 2020 taxable year, apply for the $5,000 ‘Developing Business/Nonprofit Owner Grant.’
For individuals starting or growing a business/nonprofit with annual gross business revenue/gross receipts between $100,000 to $1,000,000 in the 2020 taxable year, apply for the $10,000 ‘Mature Business/Nonprofit Owner Grant.’

Make it in Napa Action Plan
Napa’s Economic Development team is excited to announce we presented the Creative Space and Local Manufacturing Action Plan, as part of our Make It In Napa Initiative, to the Napa City Council in January. It was met with encouragement and optimism.
Alongside nonprofits Artspace and PlaceMade, Napa has been analyzing the space and housing needs of our creative community to encourage the artists, makers and builders of Napa to continue creating in the City. The action plan is the result of an in-depth community survey, interviews, site visits and focus groups.
Among other recommendations, the action plan suggests improving communications that would continue to promote Napa as a maker-friendly community, raising visibility of Napa’s creatives, building a directory, partnering with local schools and universities, as well as enhancing city infrastructure and policies to support creative groups.
From here, Napa City staff will continue to work with Artspace, PlaceMade and the City Council to put these recommendations into action.

Chamber Coalition Job Fair
Are you an individual looking for a new career? Are you a Napa County business looking for new talent? Register for the Napa County Job Fair!
The event is scheduled for February 22, 2022 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and will be conducted in person and virtually. Attendees can expect to learn about a host of companies and their vacancies while talking to company recruiters and potentially participating in interviews.
The in-person elements of the job fair will take place at Chandon, at 1 California Drive, Yountville 94599. Free transportation is being provided for the entire day by Napa Valley Transportation Authority on the Vine Bus System.

Vine Trail ExtensionIn exciting news for Napa bikers and walkers, the City of Napa extended the Napa Valley Vine Trail bike path along Soscol. The newly added half-mile stretch is widened further than the other parts of the trail to also accommodate pedestrian traffic.
The extension closes the gap in the trail between Third and Vallejo streets, bringing bikers and pedestrians on a safe path through the Rail Arts District space. Previously, bikers had to depart and find their way back to the trail during this segment of the 12-mile journey from Kennedy Park through Napa to Yountville.
Though the City plans to make additional updates to finalize the project, the trail is open to the public and is already in use. Learn more about the project, its benefits to the community, and future updates in the Napa Valley Register's "Vine Trail gap in Napa is filled" article.

Corridor Call-Out: Action Avenue x Vallejo
Testing out the new portion of the Napa Vine Trail? Stop and check out the local shops, restaurants, and creative spaces along Action Avenue and Vallejo! Just off Soscol, Action Avenue lives up to its name. This action-packed corridor in the Napa Rail Arts District ( RAD Napa) is bustling with amazing breweries, developing artist spaces, and specialty shops – each with a unique blend of modern and industrial elements. If you’re in the mood for a drink, check out Tannery Bend Beerworks or St. Clair Brown. Tannery at Action is the ‘heart and soul’ of the Tannery Beerworks locations – not only can you enjoy their fresh draft beers in the relaxed atmosphere around Action Ave, but you can also take a peek at the production for all of their locations. St. Clair Brown, an urban winery and brewery, brings the rolling hills of vineyards right to our backyard. Transforming a deserted lot and former machine shop into a boutique urban winery, nano-brewery, and culinary garden, this women-owned (and women-led) winery/brewery brings world-class wine, beer, food, and music to an inspiring and inviting space. Right around the corner on Yajome is Rancho Gordo, our local leader in the revival of heirloom beans nationwide. Having just celebrated their 20-year anniversary, Rancho Gordo has been a pillar in the community spreading the love for heirloom beans and bringing well-established ingredients, traditions, and recipes indigenous to the Americas to the ‘new world’ food and culture. The Rail Arts District, with all of its eateries and artistic spaces, enlivens and transforms this industrial area with awe-inspiring sites and creativity. The City of Napa is excited to see this area continue to develop into a space for our local creatives. Make it in Napa and other local public art initiatives serve to make our whole community more like Action Avenue – a place that welcomes artists and makers to live and work; a space transformed by accessible contemporary art; and an area that draws entrepreneurs who make our City even more special. Be sure to see all the action at Action Ave when you take a stroll along the new stretch of the Napa Valley Vine Trail path!

¡Y bienvenido de nuevo al boletín mensual de desarrollo económico de Napa!
Este mes, me complace escribirles a todos como el nuevo Gerente de la División Desarrollo Económico de la Ciudad de Napa. Después de trabajar con empresas de los sectores públicos y privados, he trabajado en Napa durante los últimos dos años y estoy ansioso por continuar aplicando mi experiencia y conocimiento a nuestra increíble comunidad empresarial.

Make it Napa Plan de Acción
El equipo de Desarrollo Económico de Napa se complace en anunciar que presentamos el Plan de Acción de Espacio Creativo y Fabricación Local, como parte de nuestra Iniciativa Make It In Napa, al Ayuntamiento de Napa en enero. Fue recibido con aliento y optimismo. Junto con las organizaciones sin fines de lucro Artspace y PlaceMade, Napa ha estado analizando las necesidades de espacio y vivienda de nuestra comunidad creativa para alentar a los artistas, creadores y constructores de Napa a continuar creando en la ciudad. Extensión del Vine Trail
En noticias emocionantes para los ciclistas y caminantes de Napa, la ciudad de Napa extendió el sendero para bicicletas Napa Valley Vine Trail a lo largo de Soscol. El tramo de media milla recién agregado se ensancha más que las otras partes del sendero para acomodar también el tráfico de peatones.
La extensión cierra la brecha en el sendero entre las calles Third y Vallejo, brindando a los ciclistas y peatones un camino seguro a través del espacio Rail Arts District.
