City Now Accepting Applications for General Plan Advisory Committee

The City of Napa is now accepting applications for the General Plan Advisory Committee (GPAC). The City’s General Plan helps to guide decision-making by residents, property owners, business interests, and elected and appointed officials about public and private land use and development that shape Napa’s physical environment. Envision Napa 2020, the City’s current General Plan, was adopted in 1998.

To assist with the General Plan Update, the City is establishing an advisory committee comprised of 10 to 15 members from the general public. You can learn more about the scope of the Committee and fill out the online application at www.cityofnapa.org/GeneralPlan2040. Applications are due by 4:00 PM on Friday, September 7, 2018.

The City envisions that the group will include Napa residents, business owners, neighborhood groups, and other community stakeholders who have a broad interest in long-range planning issues facing Napa. The selection process will focus on identifying GPAC members who can bring broad, community-wide thinking to the GPAC process rather than represent specific interest groups.

No Mace in the Recycling

What NOT to Recycle

From Napa Recycling: On Tuesday, cans of pepper spray or mace that had been improperly disposed of in the recycling went off in our Napa facility, causing it to be evacuated. This was the third time this year an incident like this has occurred.

Pepper spray, mace, bear spray and insect killer sprays - that includes used canisters with just a small amount left in them - and other hazardous materials need to go to the Hazardous Waste Facility at 889-A Devlin Road, open Fridays and Saturdays, 9am-4pm. Details are at http://naparecycling.com/household-hazardous-waste/.

If you have questions about what belongs and doesn't belong in the recycling, feel free to visit the Recycle Guide on our website.

Gasser Foundation has announced that crews will temporarily close Gasser Drive at Hartle Court around to Kansas Avenue, behind the Home Depot - South Napa Marketplace Entrance for construction. This work is expected to last approximately 50 days.

This closure will allow for work to raise the intersection at Gasser Drive and Kansas Avenue to accommodate new Gasser Drive Extension over the new Tulocay Creek Bridge, and for the new intersection to be completely signalized. A new turn out on north side of Kansas Avenue will be added just before the intersection for pick up and drop-off of day laborers.

Traffic will be detoured through the Soscol/Imola intersection (State Route 121 to 221) and left turns from eastbound Imola to northbound Gasser Drive will only be allowed for South Napa Century Center, Napa County Animal Shelter, InShape, Hampton Inn, Ole Health Construction Site, and Transitional Housing. Right turns from southbound Soscol Avenue to westbound Gasser Drive will be allowed for Black Bear Diner and all tenants of South Napa Marketplace only. No through traffic will be permitted.
