A Reminder About Pedestrian Safety from the Napa Police Department

With several recent accidents involving pedestrians, the Napa Police Department wants to remind everyone of a few simple things:

  • Please use crosswalks.
  • Drivers, please stop for pedestrians in those crosswalks
  • California Law mandates that if you are involved in an auto accident, you must STOP! Leaving the scene of a collision with property damage or injury turns a civil matter into a criminal matter that could result in prison. Why risk it?
  • Drivers please slow down and pay attention. Avoid distracted driving.

We all share these roads, let’s do our best to keep them safe for all of us.

Cart Placement

Reminders for Cart Placement

Here are a few tips for your recycling, landfill or compost carts when putting them out on the street for pickup:

1. Carts should not obstruct bike lanes or sidewalks.

2. Place at least 2 feet away from other carts and 4–6 feet from other objects (e.g. cars, trees).
3. All items must be placed in the cart.
4. When your cart is full, set it out by 6am on your service day.
5. Lid opening should face the street.
