Welcome to the GPAC Quick Hits Newsletter!

This newsletter is intended to provide the General Plan Advisory Committee (GPAC) periodic updates on the General Plan Update process, upcoming meetings, and activities. It is also a way for GPAC Members and Planning Staff to share articles and ideas on topics of interest and trends related to community planning.

General Plan Update At-A-Glance

General Plan Workshop in July! 

Planning Staff is working on a GPAC Workshop to discuss General Plans - Past & Present. The focus of the Workshop will be to review the City's current General Plan and take a look at some recent examples of new General Plans in California to help get the creative juices flowing for what we want our Napa 2040 General Plan to look like!

Legislative Update

American Planning Association - California 

If keeping up with what's going on in the California Legislature is your thing, the California Chapter of the American Planning Association provides a great resource.

The May 2019 Legislative Update provides the latest on Planning-related bills circulating the Assembly and Senate.

General Plan Update - Behind The Scenes

Stakeholder Meetings: The Consultant Team will be hosting a two-day workshop on June 10 & 11 to interview Community Stakeholders for their thoughts on the General Plan Update. City Staff will also be meeting with property owners and other interested parties to discuss their thoughts on potential land use designation updates. This information will further assist in the next phases of the General Plan Update.


GPAC Workshops: GPAC members Shinnamon, Narvaez, Siegel, and Glaser met with Community Development Staff this week to discuss additional GPAC activities and workshops as well as opportunities for the GPAC to attend speaker events outside of formal GPAC meetings. More information to come!
