This newsletter is intended to provide the General Plan Advisory Committee (GPAC) periodic updates on the General Plan Update process, upcoming meetings, and activities. It is also a way for GPAC Members and Planning Staff to share articles and ideas on topics of interest and trends related to community planning.

The focus of the Workshop will be to review the City's current General Plan and compare recent examples of new General Plans in California to help get the creative juices flowing for what we want our Napa 2040 General Plan to look like!

Challenging the "status quo" on Housing

GPAC Member Deborah Macdonald has shared two New York Times columns regarding densification of single-family neighborhoods.

Cities Start to Question an American Ideal: A House With a Yard on Every Lot - "Townhomes, duplexes and apartments are effectively banned in many neighborhoods. Now some communities regret it." 

Opinion: Americans Need More Neighbors - "A big idea in Minneapolis points the way for other cities desperately in need of housing."
