Welcome to the GPAC Quick Hits Newsletter!

This newsletter is intended to provide the General Plan Advisory Committee (GPAC) periodic updates on the General Plan Update process, upcoming meetings, and activities. It is also a way for GPAC Members and Planning Staff to share articles and ideas on topics of interest and trends related to community planning.

Transit-Supportive Density Webinar

The Priority Development Area (PDA) Program, predicated on infill development near quality transit, is central to achieving increasingly aggressive regional and state Greenhouse Gas reduction goals. In order to grow in ways that support quality transit while benefiting communities, identifying the right set of densities is critical. This forum will explore best practices and evidence from recent research on transit-supportive housing and job densities.

New Housing Bills Signed

Building on the state’s historic actions and investments this year to tackle the housing affordability crisis, Governor Gavin Newsom recently signed 18 bills designed to help jump-start housing production. Included was SB 330, major legislation aimed at removing local barriers to housing construction and speeding up new development.

Updates from Napa Valley Transit Authority

Napa Countywide Bicycle Plan

NVTA has recently announced that the Napa Countywide Bicycle Plan draft is available on their website. The Plan and environmental documents are scheduled to go before the NVTA Board for adoption at their October 23 meeting.


Countywide Transit Plan (CTP)

NVTA has launched an update of the Countywide Transportation Plan to create a shared vision for 2045. The Plan will incorporate ideas from residents and jurisdictions across Napa County.

General Plan Update - Behind the Scenes

Senior Staff Update Scheduled
Dyett & Bhatia will provide an update on the General Plan progress at an upcoming Senior Staff meeting on October 16. 

October 28 GPAC Meeting - Location Change!
The next meeting of the GPAC on October 28 will be held at the Napa Valley Unified School District offices on Jefferson! We will meet in Room 205, the "Anna Dixon Room". Parking and entrance are on the south side of the building along Lincoln Avenue.
